Vivienne Saunders

Prior to gaining a First Class BA Honours Degree (Ceramics) at Wolverhampton University I spent most of my career as a Technical Instructor teaching ceramics in an Occupational Therapy Department of the NHS.  Additionally I taught recreational pottery classes at my local technical college.

My ceramics are made from Parian clay and Parian casting slip using a combination of hand-building and slip casting together.  My technique is layering with the addition of texture and colour, water erosion and extensive sanding to form unique one-off forms.

Firing to stoneware emphasises the designs, colour and translucent qualities of Parian Porcelain.

The inspirations behind my forms are the beautiful patterns and textures that can be seen within the hidden world of microscopic life.
