Text Box: Petra Röhr-Rouendaal ARBSA

It is only in the last few years that I have started to work three dimensionally.

I studied fine art in Germany and later did a postgraduate course in the UK. I worked as a freelance, children’s book and development illustrator and graphic designer in Germany, Botswana and the UK.  In recent years I have concentrated more on my own paintings, which are strongly influenced by my life in Africa. I had many solo and group exhibitions in a number of different countries.

My sculptures are figurative, just like my paintings and illustrations. So far I have worked with clay combined with found objects such as seeds, wood, stones etc.

I absolutely love the process of creating something with my hands. The clay seems to shape itself, mainly into the female form and it expresses something about human emotions. This is my beginning. I am not sure where it will take me.
